End of the visit

Going up the last stairs, you arrive again at the criptoporticum which brings you back to the exit of the Archaeological Park.

Archaeological Park of Baia - The stairs which from the terraces take back to the criptoporticum for the end of the visit.

With the decline of the Roman Empire, Baia followed inevitably the same fortune. In the course of ages it underwent alternate events, with rebuilding works to which they followed destructions, caused both by foreign invaders and by Nature, such as the eruption in 1538.

Notwithstanding this, Baia remained a destination of illustrious travellers, who probably dreamt of living again for a few hours the ancient splendour of a people who had ruled the world.

Today it is our duty to defend these places in order to hand them down to the future generations.
